You can now see a new acquisition at the museum: Ohne Titel by Blinky Palermo. It is the much desired and long-awaited addition to the collection of abstract and conceptual art.
|
The work is an object painting that consists of two elements, an unfathomably deep blue triangle and a triangle with a mirrored surface. The combination of the two makes Ohne Titel a real eye-catcher! Palermo is one of the most important German artists of the 1960s and 1970s. His work is considered a high point of post-war abstract art. The purchase was made possible thanks to the generous support of the Mondriaan Fund, the public fund for visual arts and cultural heritage and the Rembrandt Association ( jointly through its A. Quist-Rütter Fonds, its Helze Fonds and its Themafonds Naoorlogse en Hedendaagse kunst) and participants of The FriendsLottery.

TERRACE OF A CAFÉ IN CONSERVATION STUDIO |
For the past two weeks, Terrace of a Café at Night (Place du Forum) by Vincent van Gogh has been in our conservation studio. In early September, the work will travel to Japan for a year. All works that are loaned out go to the conservation studio first. There, our conservator checks the condition of the work and new condition photos are taken. In this way, we ensure that the painting can travel as safely as possible. Terrace of a Café at Night (Place du Forum) is now back in the gallery. It will remain on display until the end of August, before its journey to Japan begins.
