| Travel, literature and art form the common thread in the life of Isaac Israels. From a young age, he travelled through Europe by train with his parents and sister. This awakened his wanderlust. |
| From Scandinavia to Spain, he recorded his impressions everywhere he went. Even during the First World War he continued to travel on a laissez-passer. In the exhibition, you can learn more about Israels’ knowledge of European literature and his travels across Europe in the first half of the twentieth century, a turbulent period. |

ISAAC ISRAELS IN THE KRÖLLER-MÜLLER COLLECTION |
Helene Kröller-Müller and her advisor Henk Bremmer admired Israels for his keen observation and his technique. In a short space of time, he manages to capture the character of his subject with remarkable accuracy.
In the exhibition, you will discover works from the collection of the Kröller-Müller Museum, supplemented by works on loan. In addition to paintings, we present sketchbooks, watercolours and pastels, ranging from rainy streetscapes to sunny beach scenes. |
